Doug Letto is an accomplished communicator and writer. He believes strong communications make businesses and organizations more productive and profitable.

He is the principal of Doug Letto Consulting, and works with people and organizations to provide practical and straightforward solutions to communications problems. 

Doug has developed many contacts in provincial media and business circles. He understands the local media, political and business climate and culture.

Doug was a member of the committee that recently reviewed the Newfoundland and Labrador Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA). He has consulted with many organizations, and delivered workshops on communicating science and complex topics, provided media and presentation training, and assisted in developing strategic communication plans. 

During a three decade career at the CBC, Doug held several positions, including political reporter and co-host of Here and Now. From 2005 to 2013, he was a key member of the CBC leadership team, with responsibility for Here and Now. Doug brought his unique organizational skills to the program, oversaw the introduction of new technology, and led Here and Now through major programming changes. 

Doug’s leadership skills and his contribution to the team helped Here and Now achieve numerous journalism awards, including one of Canada’s most prestigious awards, the Gemini, for Here and Now’s coverage of Hurricane Igor.  

Doug has strong presentation skills, developed in his roles as political reporter and co-host. He has hosted leadership convention coverage, election night broadcasts, special programming and newscasts. He also taught a graduate and undergraduate course in Political Science — Politics and the Media — at Memorial University.

Doug has a BA, B.Ed, and MA from Memorial University. 

He is the author of four books.
